Biography
Wayne has been taking pictures since 1975. He began as a way of having material to paint, but he soon discovered the challenge of making images with just the available light and subjects. "It is not like you can move a mountain or a tree just to make the shot more interesting or to follow the artistic rules."
In 1979/80 he studied photography at Confederation College in Thunder Bay Ontario. He moved back to the prairies and has lived here ever since.
Over the years he has done work for a variety of individuals and organizations including many yearly reports for non-profit organizations and work on a AIDS presentation.
His prints have been sold to the Provincial Government and hang in the Provincial Building in Flin Flon, Manitoba. They can also been seen at Canadian Mennonite University in Winnipeg Manitoba and have also hung periodically at the Provincial Legislature in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
He has received an honorable mention for his work, from the Northern Juried Art Show, when he lived in Thompson Manitoba.
In 2007 he was asked to create a series of images with musical instruments.
Up until recently, all of his work was recorded on film from 35mm to 4x5 inches in size. He has now moved to digital, and continues to be challenged by the complexity and beauty that can be created using only available light and subjects.
Wayne lives in rural Canada on the prairies. So a lot of his work is about the area in which he lives. The concepts of art within photography are very important to him, and it is something that he stresses in his work.
