And saw who you really are

I saw what beauty you have created

You’ve given so many things to me and to the world
Yet we have turned away

We’ve started wars over seemingly trivial matters
Creating violence where there once was none

We’ve killed each other
We’ve taken away what true humanity was supposed to be

And yet you’re always here
You do not turn away from us
As we turn away from you

I look up into the sky
I see your face
And I start to realize
A truth that I never knew

This world was meant for beauty
For gentle and caring love
But we have destroyed everything

We took what you created
And changed the world entirely

But you do not turn away

We’ve hurt you time and time again
Breaking your heart countless times

We lie to each other
We hurt each other
We KILL each other

But you still forgive us

I am amazed at how much love you really have
And I cannot comprehend your unrelenting love

But I realize what the real truth is

And that is this:

No matter how much we do that is wrong
No matter how many times we break your heart
And no matter how much we hurt each other

You’ll always be there
