Artist's Comments

I have passed this old house many times, and it has always spoken to me of times past. Capturing that sense has, for me, been the challenge and it has taken a number of attempts. With the right lighting, this house can look very sinister, but to me it has always spoken of the peace and joy that she contained when she was used by a family.

I hope that essence has been captured and you too will get a sense of the depth that this old house contains.

"Seeing" the unusual...EVERY DAY
:iconthaumadzo:
thanks Faisal,

I have noticed a change this year in how I am seeing things. For a long time I saw my world as mostly brown. And it is that, with fall and spring..not to mention huge fields ready for harvest. This year though, I have found myself concentrating on the greens and blues. They were always there of course, but I missed them. This year, for what ever reason, these colours are all so much more vibrant to me that capturing them has been a real joy.

It will of course only be about another month, then the fields will go gold and the harvest will begin. But for now.....Its Green and Blue....:D

I have to wonder why a home of this size and style would be left to ruin .. why would someone just leave it?

Luke 12:24 Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?

In this specific case I am not sure, but there has been a pattern of people leaving the land and moving to town. Also farms have gotten much larger with large machinery, so that means less people are required to keep them working. All in all, the rural areas are being depopulated. In the end...some houses will simply be abandoned.
