Artist's Comments

This image is significantly "Darker" that I usually do. But it does capture to mood of the day for me.

Thanks for every comment and :+fav:

First off I love the darkness of the sky with the worn and ancient building that looks as if it could hold ghosts. There is also great composition with the points of the roof and the light through the clouds in the sky as well as being off center much as the building is off center.
I would have like the building to be a bit sharper in focus as opposed to the grass but having taken many photo I realize how difficult that can be when the camera wants to pick up the foreground instead. I also think if the grass was a tad more colorful it would contrast with the building and sky better highlighting the faded grays of the building.
Over all excellent image. Dark and foreboding ... right up my alley :)

thanks Catharina,

that is the effect I was trying to achieve. I had to move very carefully because the sky contrasts would result in a high end blow out very easily.

thanks David,

Not my usual, but it was fun to do, and I learned a lot, especially about active layers.

Oh, I am not in a dark mood, but the day was grey, we were having a blast with some friends on a road trip and when I saw this house I just had to stop. It was an immediate mood thing... I could see and feel how this needed to turn out. I think it matches how I saw it in my mind very well.
