Please meet my niece Avienda. Its is not her birth name, but as her uncle it is a special name that I gave to her. It speaks of her strength and spirit. This image is dedicated to her. It is first image to be posted, from the US side, into The Between Friends Gallery. Thanks to her good eyes, we found this old lady about three miles from the Canadian Border.
While doing research for this series, I was given the following story by the Walhalla Librarian, Diana Yeado. Thank you Diane.
As this Gallery celebrates the relationships between the people of Canada and the US in the North Dakota / Manitoba area between Niche / Gretna and Snowflake / Hannah, this historical event is presented as an example of not only the joy and mirth that has been created within this relationship, but also the problems that is has caused for some people.
Walhalla Mountaineer June 14, 1907-- Anthony Generous was brought to the city this week under arrest by a U. S. Marshal charged with smuggling liquor across the line. It seems that last week Mr. G. was married and wanting his friends and guests at the wedding to have a good time, ordered some "Make Merry" from East Grand Forks which for some reason did not come to hand, so he, it is charged, slipped across the line and brought over two gallons--and the second day of his honeymoon he spent with the marshal under arrest. He gave bonds before U. S. Commissioner Comny to appear the next term of court. Walhalla's people say that Mr. Generous is a good citizen and a good fellow.
It all just kind of makes me wonder what Mrs. Generous said to her new husband when he arrived home from the court appearance.
I hope all of you enjoy the image and the attached story.

I have more of the car, but this picture was special and I didn't want the focus to be taken over by the car. I will post a picture of the car at another time, thiugh I am not sure when, because I have had little time to get to the processing.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
Although `DEVlANT joined our community only a year ago, he's made sure to make his mark in as many ways as possible. His inquisitive mind and enthusiastic personality is reflected in every part of the community which he reaches out to. Always eager to bring suggestions and feedback to us in a positive way, `DEVlANT shows a maturity way beyond his years. It's with great pleasure that we award very first Deviousness of 2010 t...
