Part of the Living Prairie Collection

The amount of faith that farmers demonstrate on a daily basis is astounding. Now one can argue that just as the seasons change, crops will grow. And for the most part that it true. Yet to seed a field still requires faith in an unknown future.

Will rain come?
Will it come at the right time?
Will it rain during harvest and destroy a bumper crop?
Will wind flatten the crop so that it cannot be harvested?
Will there be disease, insects, other natural forces that can destroy a crop?

And perhaps most importantly....Will the crop earn enough to pay for the machinery and fuel used in its production?

All of these things are realities, that city dwelling folks do not see or hear.

And you know for us city folks, it is not just the matter of the success of the crop, the lives of families are tied to these events. Should the weather fail, not only individual families will be affected, but potentially, our world food supply.

So perhaps we are all more dependent on the faith of the farmer than we realize. And perhaps in our troubled and changing world, our faith in our ability to sustain will need to grow.

The body is amazingly stubborn when it comes to sacrificing itself to the annihilating directions of the mind.

You, who can’t do anything, think you can bring off something like that? How can you even dare to think about it? If you were capable of it.

We had our atomic wars—thousands of years ago. After that we fought with
bows and arrows. Then, slowly, we learned that fighting is no solution—that
aggression leads to chaos.

Very good work and wonderful commentary. We all rely on the success of the farmers. Without them, there would be famine.

:D If scientists were ever going to figure out how to travel through time, wouldn’t we now be seeing people from the future?

The simpleness of the whole picture is probably the best quality.
The blue sky gives this rare "clean feeling"
that i rarely see.
Also, it shows this burst of life where there already is life.
The empty blue sky gives a feeling of freedom.
There are no restrictions to how high you can reach.
while all the trees on the ground are the same height, conforming, the sky shows new possibilities that are yet unseen;
There is free space, open for new ideas and non conformity.

We absolutely are. There are fewer and fewer of them every year, more crops are being diverted to fuel sources..there is a worldwide food crisis going on right now. It takes infinite faith for a family to do that year after year with no guarantee they will gather any benefit from their hard work. They are amazing
