Progress....

I represent
your way of life,
the way that you choose
to become.

You call it progress
industry, wealth
but all of it's centred
around one.

My age of usefulness
now all but gone
except for the beauty
I make

To you I am useless,
to you I am gone
but I show you how deep,
your mistake

I stand in these trees
I know in my heart,
that time in its way
will make right

This age it is passing
and shall take its turn
like the trees and the grass
in my sight

I show in my colours
the struggle of life
the choices that
each of you make

It seems that the guideposts
the few you accept
are affected by
what you will take.

So the question that weighs
in the depth of my heart
is will you bring progress
or death.

Your choices are crucial,
I hope you make good ones
I hope they bring peace
and some rest

So here where I sit
in this field full of trees,
my life is a contrast....
of red and lime green.
