Ghosts of Winter

diminishing
like snow,
evolving
to vapor

silence echos
like stalactite voices
in lobotomized
chambers,

summon
the past
contemplate
the future

the power
of life
hurdles
towards spring


There is a connection for me with the ever changing yet unchanging wheel of the seasons and this house. The house is diminishing, as is the snow. While the time of year holds promise of spring and warmer weather and the human activities that come with it, this is not true for this house. It will not echo with joy and happiness, it will remain dead and full of ghosts.

For myself, the dichotomy is evident and calls me, and I hope others to consider our lives and out place within this world and creation. We are called to look at the past, but also to consider the future.

However, whether we heed the call or not, life (in this case weather) will continue to move forward. So we are caught in this never ending progression, yet how we respond to it, will determine if we become like this house, or are able to cycle forward like the seasons.
