The Autumn equinox is the point at which the sun crosses the equator. This year it was September 23rd.
For us in the north, it means that the days will get progressively colder. The sun actually began its southward return on June 21st which is the spring solstice.
Contrary to popular belief, the trees turn colour not because of frost, but rather because of the fading hours of sunlight. As the length of the day recedes, the tree prepares itself for winter by gradually slowing the flow of sap to the leaves. As the process continues, the leaves begin to turn colour and drop in preparation for winter regeneration.
Nice explanation of the autum process... I enjoyed.
I didn't think about it before, but it's totally true. The trees are green because of the "clorofila" and the sun, so, less sun, less green.
I think you don't need to learn how to treat the pictures, they're are already perfect!

And.. in actuality. the colors are there already, you just can't see them when they are producing chlorophyll..after that stops and the sap drains the colors show .. isn't that cool? Great shot.. nice colors and textures

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

I found the colours embracing too. The red object is a grass cutter. It too seems to add something to the whole image.
